Are you worried about your relationship? Does your partner sometimes say or do harmful things? It can be confusing when you love someone who also causes you harm. I’m not here to tell you what to do, or that you need to leave. Therapy can help you sort through what you need and what you want. We can work together to help you be safer, inside and outside of your relationship.

Have you recently left an abusive relationship and are feeling lost? Or have you been out for a while and are still feeling the effects on your daily life? It can feel discouraging to still feel their hand prints all over your life. This is normal. You’re not alone. Healing takes time. In therapy we can examine the past, in a non-judgmental way, and look toward the promise of the future. We can work together to manage you triggers, so they feel less overwhelming. I can help you learn how to be kind and compassionate to your younger self. It won’t feel like this forever.

We all have different ways of coping with trauma. One common way is through substances. Substances often help us to numb pain from traumatic events in our lives, whether it is through domestic violence, religious trauma, sexual assault, etc. Substance use is a coping skill. We can explore how it is both helping and not helping you. I believe in harm-reduction. If you are not in a place to be substance-free, we can work on skills regarding safer use.

Though I do specialize in the areas of gender-based violence and substance use, I also work with a wide array of other experiences as well including depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, healthy relationships, grief and life changes/transitions.
